Bread of the Mighty Food Bank

  • Bread of the Mighty Food Bank collects, stores, and distributes donated food and basic essentials to 180+ non-profit agency partners.
  • Whether it be donating your time, money, or food, Bread of the Mighty Food Bank needs volunteers to help sort through the food bank.
  • Mon-Fri 8am-4pm (volunteering)
  • Mon-Fri 8am-4pm (drop off food donations)

St. Francis House

  • The St. Francis House provides shelter, food, and education for homeless people in the Gainesville community.
  • Volunteers provide ongoing services for clients to help end homelessness.
  • Open 8am-12pm daily

Humane Society of North Central Florida

  • You have the choice to volunteer, adopt a pet, or do both!
  • Whether you are looking for an active jogging partner or the purrfect feline friend to cuddle up with to read a book, the Alachua County Humane Society can help you find your perfect match.
  • The Alachua County Humane Society is always looking for dedicated individuals to help in a variety of areas ranging from walking, cleaning, and socializing with animals to laundry, dishes, thrift store operations, and special events.
  • $20 fee for training, BUT hanging out with the pets is free!

Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs, Inc

  • Guardian Angels train medical service dogs to mitigate the challenges associated with several disabilities, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury, seizure disorders, glucose imbalance, mobility issues, and more.
  • They are always in need of volunteers to help clean cages, maintain the property, fundraise, and even socialize puppy service dogs!

Girls Place, Inc

  • Girls Place is constantly recruiting dedicated volunteers and groups who want to help girls grow courageous, strong, and self-sufficient, whether it is through homework help, athletic coaching, etc.

Alachua Habitat for Humanity

  • Volunteers can build houses, assist in administrative offices, provide lunch for volunteers at build sites, work at their ReStore, help at events, and do so much more.
  • Build sites on Sat 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Special projects on Sat 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Keep Alachua County Beautiful

  • Keep Alachua County Beautiful strives to beautify and preserve Gainesville’s environment through clean-up and reducing waste.
  • Volunteers can be a part of projects including Litter Prevention and Abatement, Graffiti Abatement, and community cleanups.
  • Register for Thursday events online.

Ronald McDonald House

  • The Ronald McDonald House in Central Florida provides a home for families to stay together near their sick children while being treated at a medical facility.
  • Individual volunteers can help at the front desk, family room, in the house, maintenance chores, processing donations, and administrative work.
  • Shifts available 7 days a week.

Retirement Home for Horses

  • The Retirement Home for Horses at Mill Creek Farm provides lifetime care for elderly horses rescued from humane societies and the SPC.
  • Volunteers help with grooming the horses, fence mending, tractor mowing, and chores to upkeep the farm.

Red Cross

  • The Red Cross in North Florida assists in disaster relief and preparedness by donating food, clothing, and shelter.
  • Volunteers can help families following disasters to make a difference in the lives of others.

The Arc of Alachua County

  • The Arc of Alachua County is an organization that provides services, support, and advocacy to people with developmental disabilities.
  • Volunteers can work with clients in a classroom, recreation, or production setting. They can help with day programs, bingo games every Tuesday, special events, Special Olympics, and administrative work at the front desk.

Gigi’s Playhouse

  • GiGi’s Playhouse is a Down syndrome achievement center for children and adults to help empower individuals to their greatest potential.
  • Volunteers can help with outreach, special events inside the playhouse, tutoring, and administrative work.

Balance 180

  • Balance 180 is a gymnastics and sports academy that integrates children with varying abilities through sports.
  • Volunteers can work one on one with children with intellectual disabilities. They can help with adaptive and recreational gymnastics to encourage the athletes.

  • Admissions Volunteer Ambassadors engage, impact, and recruit prospective students through meaningful dialogue about the University of Florida.

Circle K International (CKI)

  • A student-led service club where members volunteer at a variety of organizations around Gainesville. This club offers leadership opportunities and fosters friendship through unified compassion for humanity’s potential.

Alzheimer’s Outreach Organization

  • Alzheimer’s Outreach Organization raises awareness about Alzheimer’s and dementia by volunteering with Alzheimer’s patients and informing people about symptoms and treatments.

Be the Match on Campus

  • Be The Match On Campus aims to inform members of the University of Florida community about bone marrow donation and to hold drives around campus to sign up interested potential donors.

Best Buddies

  • Best Buddies International is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Engineers for Gainesville

  • The purpose of Engineers for Gainesville is to help engineering students organize local community service and volunteer efforts in Gainesville and to provide a networking opportunity for service-minded engineering students.

Baby Gator

  • Volunteers play an active role at Baby Gator. Volunteers read, play, and assist teachers in the classrooms, on the playgrounds, on field trips, during meals, snacks, and rest time.
