The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning youth. Q Chat Space hosts online discussion groups for LGBTQ teens (ages 13-19).
Fenway Health offers free support groups for health promotion that are not therapy groups. These groups are designed to provide supportive discussions, education about healthier living, and to foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie among participants.
Currently offered is the following:
- Bisexual and Bi-Curious Men’s Group
- A free, drop-in, male-facilitated group for men (trans inclusive) who are bisexual or think they might be. The group is free and confidential.
- Meets the second Tuesday of every month from 7:00pm – 9:00pm via Zoom
TherapyTribe is an amalgamation of several free health and wellness services provided to the community at large, as well as targeted marketing services for mental health professionals. One subset of resources offered by TherapyTribe is The Tribe – Wellness Community. The Tribe is home to 8 unique mental health support groups: AddictionTribe, AnxietyTribe, DepressionTribe, HIV/AidsTribe, LGBTribe, MarriageFamilyTribe, OCDTribe, and TeenTribe. The Tribe offers its members the latest in social network technology carefully tailored to create an environment of support and encouragement. Their free online support community offers members a convenient and safe place to connect.
The LGBTribe offers peer-to-peer support group for individuals living as LGBT – lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning.
GLMA is a national organization committed to ensuring health equity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and all sexual and gender minority (SGM) individuals, and equality for LGBTQ/SGM health professionals in their work and learning environments. To achieve this mission, GLMA utilizes the scientific expertise of its diverse multidisciplinary membership to inform and drive advocacy, education, and research.

The River City Gems are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to improve the lives of transgender individuals and their families by providing social opportunities, peer support, education, resources, outreach programs, and other services focused on the specific needs of the male-to-female transgender community. Although they are based in Sacremento, CA, they offer a multitude of resources available to those outside of the Northern California area.

GLAAD is a nongovernmental media monitoring organization. GLAAD rewrites the script for LGBTQ acceptance. As a dynamic media force, GLAAD tackles tough issues to shape the narrative and provoke dialogue that leads to cultural change. GLAAD protects all that has been accomplished and creates a world where everyone can live the life they love.
GLAAD supports a number of publications focused on reporting on various LGBTQ populations to inform on certain timely issues.
The UF Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) provides short-term counseling, group, and couples’ therapy as well as consultation, crisis services, outreach, referrals, self-care, and more.
Their LGBTQI+ Resource Page offers additional information regarding resources and services available from various sources, including those regarding provider databases, trans resources, questioning, policy/social justice, bisexuality, asexuality, mental health, crisis, substance abuse, family support, and magazines and pop culture (see More LGBTQ Resources).
The CWC hosts a variety of group counseling sessions focused on various themes and specific populations (group counseling sessions have limited attendance and are a semester-long commitment). Two LGBTQ-focused groups will be hosted this Fall 2020, LGB Empowerment and Trans Empowerment.
The UF Student Health Care Center (SHCC) is an on-campus clinic that provides both primary and specialty medical care to UF students.
Transgender students may be able to receive hormone replacement therapy at the SHCC.
A student organization at UF that educates and provides a safe space for students of marginalized sexualities and gender identities. They offer development opportunities, community building, and social networking.
Housed under the Multicultural and Diversity Affairs office, LGBTQ Affairs strives to provide an affirming and welcoming space for all LGBTQ+ identified students. They work to empower LGBTQ+ student leaders and ambassadors as change agents on campus and in the community. Recognizing that sexual identity and gender identity and expression work through and are influenced by race, ethnicity, culture, age, disability, class, faith, and other social characteristics, they offer support and educational programming that incorporate principles of social justice to reduce heterosexism, genderism, homophobia, and transphobia in all of their forms on the UF campus and beyond.
They offer a multitude of resources for students, including discussion groups for certain LGBTQ+ subpopulations.
QTPOC Collective is a collaborative group of LGBTQ/Two Spirit/Gender Nonconforming POC throughout the black, indigenous, desi, asian, and latinx diasporas. Their goal is to facilitate discussions on healing and thriving in a predominantly white system with an emphasis on building solidarity, de-centering whiteness, and resurfacing deeply interconnected and complicated histories. They attempt to achieve this through their programming, coalition, visual archives, mobilisation, and upliftment.
OUTGrad is a group for LGBTQIA+ and Allied graduate students and postdocs offered through LGBT Affairs at the University of Florida. OUTGrad was formed in November 2014. The group is for any- and everyone interested in OUTGrad: we have meetings, socials, and discussion groups.
OUTLAW is a social and political organization that advocates for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and allied students. Members work to increase community awareness of issues relating to the intersection of gender, sexual orientation, and the law. They hold
regular meetings, guest lectures, and awareness events throughout campus and provide a forum within the law school to discuss matters of importance to LGBTQ+ students.
The Queer Cultivation Program (QCP) is a LGBTQ+ mentor-mentee and social program focused on fostering community and family. The mission of QCP is to provide a mentor-mentee program for students of marginalized sexualities and genders at the University of Florida. This includes, but is not limited to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, and Pansexual individuals (or LGBTQ+).
Out in Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (oSTEM) is a national student society, dedicated to increasing the participation of people who identify with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or ally (LGBTQA) communities in disciplines related to science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).
Ally-Gators is motivated to create a supportive and cooperative environment for students, faculty, and staff both within the college and beyond. Their main goal is to provide support and promote equality for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies.
Health Queer Alliance (HQA) is a LGBTQ health interest group open to all students involved in the health sciences at University of Florida. They strive to educate tomorrow’s providers and eliminate inequities in health care while fostering community among LGBTQ students and allies.
LGBTQ+ Adventures offers a judgment-free social space for students to engage in outdoor activities. Our goals are for members to gain confidence, meet new people, and retreat from academic stresses by exploring Gainesville’s natural attractions.
National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) is a group of students dedicated to improving coverage of LGBTQ issues and LGBTQ representation in the media.

TranQuility is a community group of transgender people, their families, and allies who aim to improve the lives of transgender and gender nonconforming people. They are based in Gainesville, Florida and serve the greater Alachua / North Central Florida area.
Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays of Gainesville (PFLAG Gainesville) is a newly formed chapter of PFLAG, the nation’s foremost family-based organization committed to the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people.
They offer resources for Support; Education Outreach; Safe Schools Legislation, Training & Resources; and Advocacy
